Introduction

On the Bromley Emergency Courses MCEM Part B revision course, as well as detailed topic specific lectures, we provide 4 practice examination papers. The examination papers done by the candidates are reviewed by the faculty and during the debriefing sessions an approach to each question is discussed. At the end of the session an ‘ideal answers’ sheet is given and we provide links to what we feel is a definitive educational resource for that topic.

Perhaps understandably, the College of Emergency Medicine does not publish a list of past questions nor does it allow candidates to divulge what has come up in previous examination papers. However, we are aware that candidates preparing for the exam are always keen to find practice questions. Our question bank has been written and refined over a number of years by members of the Bromley Emergency Courses faculty using our experience in preparing candidates for the examination. As such, we feel it accurately reflects the sorts of topics and the complexity of questions that come up in the MCEM B examination.

In order to aid your preparation we have compiled the following set of resources:

• A list of the questions we have written in the last few years with links to free web resources for each: Click here

• A list of the books we would regard as the most important in preparing for the examination: Click here

• A list of the guidelines we feel it is important you revise before the
examination:

• An image bank that you will find useful when preparing for
the exam:

• Some example questions with answers: Click here

In using this resource we would ask you to remember the following points:

We have no financial interest in any of the books recommended on the website.

The questions found on this website are our own work and we think of a good standard, however we guarantee that they will not be reused on the Bromley Emergency MCEM B Revision Course – all questions used in our mock examinations are kept exclusively for use on our course to allow us to simulate real examination conditions accurately

Although your own revision, including running through practice questions at home, is hugely valuable we strongly believe that lots of marks are lost in the exam by candidates with poor ‘exam technique’. On our course we give instruction on not only the right answers but how to answer the question to maximise your performance. We highly recommend the course to you!

Finally, guidelines and web pages are constantly being up dated; if you discover that one of our links doesn’t work or is out-dated, please e-mail us (info@mcemcourses.org) to let us know and we will correct any errors.

Good Luck!
